The
history of tarot cards dates back to 15th century. During this era
tarot cards (often referred as tarock cards) were used to play games. The word
tarot is derived from an Italian word "tarrocchino" which was a
gambling play cards game. It was during the latter half of the 15th
century that mystics and oracles started using these cards to do the tarot card
reading.
There is a lot of mystery surrounding tarot cards and many people compare it
with the psychic reading however these two are totally different things.
Since
the 16th century critics have done a wonderful job of portraying tarot card reader as the either
untrustworthy con artists or dark magic practitioners or both. The truth is far
from it, tarot card reading is an art that scares many ordinary people but it
is an art that can be mastered with practice nonetheless. Any person can learn
to read tarot cards if he or she is willing to understand the basic rules and
concept of the entire process. In my opinion supernatural abilities do not
supersede practice hence it is important to go to a reader with lots of
practice.
Many
people blindly believe that tarot card
reader can see the unknown or they have some sort of supernatural
abilities. However in most of the cases it is not true. It is better to cleanse
your mind of all the prejudices before going for a reading. There are many
benefits of tarot card readings though. Sometimes individuals find it difficult
to take objective stand on some things like inner feelings and emotions. In
such cases tarot cards can provide invaluable guidance to those individuals. In
essence tarot card readings can
individuals to draw the line between the past, the present and the future. You
will certainly experience this if you approach this art with open and receptive
mind.
Many people believe that only
the gifted can read the cards. Although the gifted or sensitive people can read
the cards better than others; anyone with enough practice and knowledge can
read cards. Secondly whenever the name tarot card
reading
comes up the image of turban clad mystic sitting in a scantly lit room comes to
everyone’s mind. But the truth is card readers in today’s world will dress just
like you. In fact many of them don’t need the traditional ambiance to work their
charm. I have met at least a dozen tarot
card reader who looked like a next door neighbor. Today many card readers
have their own websites though which they provide online tarot card reading
services for a fee. So you don’t even have to face the so called somber office
of a reader.
Many
of us also believe that the power of divination resides in the deck of cards.
The older the cards the more powerful are the readings. The meanings of each
tarot card are the same regardless if one is using an old moldy deck or a newly
purchased one. As far as the power goes; the tarot card reader is responsible for that and of
course his / her experience. The myth of third eye also surrounds the art of
tarot reading. Bu the fact is there is no such thing as opening the third eye
however some people are more responsive towards delicate emotional changes than
others. Such people may be able to do the readings better than others but
that’s all. The fact is tarot card
reading is a combination of art and science and it should be treated as
such.
